KIAWAH ISLAND
Kiawah Island near Charleston, South Carolina, has more than a week of special programming and is a fun way to spend the holiday weekend for families. A sunrise beach service begins at 6.45 a.m. Easter Sunday and visitors will be entitled to participate in beach-based yoga, egg hunt, sand-building competition, and tie-building. Any day of the week activities like this takes place. There are five on-site restaurants for Easter brunch and dinner along with their own Easter specials. The Southern theme Jasmine Porch serves an Easter breakfast, a buffet at the Turtle Point, and bloody marys and mimics at The Players’ Pub the whole day.
NEW ORLEANS
There is no better spot for an Easter Sunday parade than New Orleans if you enjoy a decent parade. After all, this is a city where every day of the year parades takes place—so you can see how they are doing all they can for a true holiday. The day starts with NOLA’s older Easter procession, the Historic French Quarter parade that began in 1956 and goes backward, including a mass stop at St Louis’ Cathedral and the sophisticated ladies’ pick-up (and sometimes large) Easter hair tossing beads and candy in horse carts at 10:30 am. The paradise starts from Antoine’s restaurant to Jackson Square and the back.
WASHINGTON D.C.
The festival will include Easter Egg Hunt, a Running Egg Cross, and a visit from Easter Bunny every year on Easter Monday (who is obviously not busy elsewhere, since his big day has already come and gone). Live jazz, storytelling, and cooking workshops are also available throughout the South Lawn. Every year participants are selected by lottery and, usually, more than 35,000 people participate, while tickets are free.
